Club Constitution

Constitution - Emperors Ice Hockey Club Inc.
ARTICLE 1 - NAME
The name of this organisation shall be "Emperors Ice Hockey Club Inc" (also referred to as ‘The Emperors').
ARTICLE 2 - OBJECTS
The objects of the Club shall be:
(a) To encourage new membership of the club.
(b) To ensure the enjoyment of Ice Hockey for all members.
(c) To affiliate with Ice Hockey NSW and other organisations whose objects and interests are in accord with those of this Club.
(d) To support all levels of ice hockey players from beginners to elite by organising training and games.
(e) To support and work collaboratively with the operators of ice skating rinks wherever members skate.
ARTICLE 3 - MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the club will commence forthwith, thereafter will be annual, commencing on 1st march each year and ending on the last day of February of the next year.
Membership of the Club has the following classifications : -
ARTICLE 4 - WITHDRAWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
- Active Player: All Active Players are entitled to attend General Meetings of the Club, speak to motions being considered, and to exercise a vote for or against motions being considered at those meetings, with the proviso that Active Players who have not attained the age of 16 years may not vote. The Executive may decide on a Joining fee for Active Players. The Executive shall decide on an Annual Membership Fee. The Executive may also require that an Affiliation Fee is paid by Active Players to pay the cost of Affiliating with Ice Hockey NSW and covering the cost of Sports Insurance.
- Non-Playing Members: - Non Playing Members are members of the club who do not participate in Ice Hockey games, training or coaching, but who wish to be a part of the Club as a volunteer, supporter or administrator thereby supporting the aims of that Club. Non-Playing members of the Club will pay a joining fee and Annual membership Fee as set by the Executive. This category of membership may also vote at Club meetings.
- Life Members: Life membership of the club is an Honorary Status, to be conferred on those persons, who have made an outstanding contribution to the club. The Club may confer Life Membership at any general meeting, with the proviso that a three-fourths majority of the Members meeting, and entitled to vote, to review the conferring of Life Membership, shall agree to the proposal.
A member may resign his/her membership at any time by giving notice in writing to the Secretary of the Club of his/her intention to do so; however, resignation shall not relieve a member of his/her liability to pay any outstanding fees that may be due by him/her.
ARTICLE 5 - SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION OF MEMBERS
(a) Any member violating the provisions of the Constitution, By-laws, or rules of the club, or refusing to abide by any decision of the Executive or of a majority of the members of the club may be suspended, or expelled by the executive.
(b) Expelled or suspended members have the right, if they wish, to request a Special General Meeting of the Club and propose a motion that they be reinstated. A contribution fee of $50 is payable by the expelled/ suspended member before the General Meeting can be called.
(c). Expelled or suspended members if unsuccessful in their motion at a Special General Meeting, have the right to appeal to Ice Hockey NSW.
(d) The Executive may at any time re-instate or re-admit suspended or expelled members.
ARTICLE 6 - GOVERNMENT
(a) The Government of this Club shall be vested in an executive, which shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to take such steps and to apply the funds of the Club in such a manner as they deem expedient for the promotion of its objects.
(b) At the Annual General Meeting of the Club there shall be elected from among the members of the Club, the following 5 Office Bearers: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Media Manager, and Secretary.
These Office Bearers, shall be known as the Executive Committee of the Club. The President shall be the figure head and chairperson at meetings. The Vice President shall be deputy to the President and shall also be the Club's member protection Officer. The Media Manager is to organise news articles to go into local newspapers and also recommend promotions and manage web site issues. The Treasurer is to keep the books and accounts. The Secretary will send out notice of meetings, shall keep accurate minutes of meetings and will send out minutes within 48 hours of meetings.
(c) The Executive shall have the power to elect or second, other members of the Club, for special positions if it so desires eg head Coach. A casual vacancy on the Executive may be filled by the Executive until the next General Meeting.
(d) The Executive shall meet when necessary during the year but at least once per month during the game season. A quorum for Executive meetings shall be 60% of those eligible to vote at that meeting.
(e) Meetings are organised as follows:
(i) A meeting of the Executive may be convened at any time by the President of the Club by giving at least 7 days notice to the other members of the Executive.(f) The Executive shall have the power to deal with any matters not provided for in the Constitution, Rules or By-laws.
(ii) A General meeting may be convened by the President by giving 14 days notice to all members eligible to vote at that meeting. A General meeting may also by called by any 6 members notifying the President of their request.
(iii) Annual General Meetings of the Club shall be held at least once in each calendar year.
(iv) A quorum for any General Meeting of the Club shall be 20 % of eligible voting members
(g) Any By-laws passed shall be kept in a "By-Laws Book" or on a computer file and shall form an attachment to the constitution in order that they are effectively communicated and carried out.
(h)"Drugs in sport: The Club shall adopt the policy in use by the National Controlling body of the Ice Hockey in Australia in respect of a Drugs in Sport policy.
(i)"Members Protection Officer" The Club shall adopt a policy which may be amended from time to time, to ensure that all members of the Club are protected as required by the Laws of the State of New South Wales. In the absence of a policy approved by the club, the policy of Ice Hockey NSW shall be deemed to be accepted. The Vice President of the Club or such other approved member shall be the Member Protection Officer for the Club.
ARTICLE 7 - FINANCES
(a) All monies received on behalf of the club by any person shall be banked as soon as practicable into the Clubs bank account and certainly within 4 days. Persons other than the Treasurer of the club, who receive club monies shall forthwith transmit the funds to the Treasurer.
(b) The Treasurer shall keep such banking accounts as sanctioned by the Executive and present a full report of finances to each Executive meeting and to the AGM.
(c) All cheques and other payments on behalf of the Club shall be signed and countersigned by any two of the executive
ARTICLE 8 - FEES
The Annual
Fees for all members of the club shall be due and payable on 1stMarch in each year. The amounts of these fees will be determined

ARTICLE 9 - AMENDMENTS TO THIS CONSTITUTION
This
