Emperors Ice Hockey Club Inc Emperors Update June 2007

Midway through the season and our club is progressing very well and here are some results which we should post for all divisions:

Atoms
The Atoms are proud to announce victories over the following teams: Penrith Phantoms, Central Coast Cyclones, and Liverpool Saints. Top 5 goal scorers for the team to date are Robert Widdis, Owen Smith, Lachlan Good, Dannan Lawton and Lachlan Shumak, and not forgetting virtually the whole team all registering points either through assists or goals, this close knit brigade is out to conquer. Keep skating, passing and shooting boys and girl.

Peewee
Conquered parties include Canterbury Eagles, Sydney Bears, Newcastle Northstars, and a draw with the Central Coast Cyclones. Top 5 goal scorers include Matthew Ward, Andrew Fox, Justin Knight, James David and Lachlan Good. Brand new team with great results and with Stefan in the pipes, this team is definitely very deceiving.

Bantam
This merger is still on the prowl with a win and a draw to date. Top 5 scorers include Jason Rockley, newcomer Andrew Johnson, Mathew Cernec, Shota Matsumura, and Jarrod Nash. There is some very good talent in this competition, and we are definitely seeing our players improve as the competition progresses and the talk is that the players are enjoying the challenge.

Midget
Highest level contact division which the Emperors are fielding with some promising results and some great talent to show as well. Top 5 goal scorers to date are Simon ‘mini' Dunand, Patrick Teylan, Sam Louttit, James O'Brien Brown, and Mitchell Horst. This team has had wins against teams such as Central Coast Cyclones and Liverpool Saints.

Senior C
The social side of hockey is more competitive than you think both on and off the ice. This team is progressing steadily with some wins against the Bucs, Cardinals, and Falcons. Top points scorers for the Emperors are Grant Redelinghuys, Paul Oyama, Mark Canto, Darren Burns and Adam Zimmer. Close fought wins and very narrow losses in some instances. We hope the Emperors C's can grab a few more notches on the ladder as there are 12 teams jostling for points, and a top 6 finish would do them justice.
All in all it can be said that the Emperors are most competitive against the newest clubs such as Cyclones, Saints and Northstars. For match ups against some of the well established clubs, we can hold our own for parts of the game, but in the end we seem to be overwhelmed by experience and talent. This is a trend which undoubtedly will fade away as the years pass by and the only way to be sure that we overcome this situation is to keep skating and enjoy your ice time both socially and competitively. We have probably proven ourselves to be the most successful club in it's inaugural year so far.

Goal Nets
You may be aware by now that we have taken delivery of some brand new goal frames for the club. Netting for these nets has now been attached and their first touch of the ice was Tuesday practice session 19th June 2007. These frames also have anchor points to stop the nets from moving so easily during games. We hope you like our newest addition to the club.
