Team Updates
Atom
We have a full compliment of Atoms players for this season and this shows that we are certainly on the right track to developing a healthy club. The players are improving out of sight and we look forward to teaching some of the other clubs how to play hockey. Our first game is scheduled for the 15th April at home versus the Central Coast Cyclones. Go Team Emperors.
Pee Wee
The Emperors Pee Wee team recently contested the annual Heaton Cup Trophy which is held at the Canterbury Ice Rink on Good Friday. We are pleased to report that the Pee Wee team played extremely well winning all of the regular competition games giving them a place in the finals and narrowly losing to the Winning team Liverpool Saints team 1-0. We are boasting some very good talent in this division with some crafty play. Goal scorers were Scott Clemie, James David, Jiri Pagac. Well done Emperor Pee Wees.
Bantam
The Bantam team recently played an exhibition match against the Liverpool Saints team which was held at Canterbury ice rink. We wish to note that the team lost 8-3, but all in all, this tells us that the 3 goals scored shows that we are capable of putting the puck away, and with some more fitness, we should be able to match it up with any team in the competition. Goal scorers for the Emperors were Mathew Cernec, Tim Newmark and Jarrad Nash. Well done Bantams.
Midget
The Emperors Midget team also contested the Heaton Trophy on Good Friday and were very happy with their performance. They were up against some very tough competition but still managed to win their first game against Liverpool Saints by a margin of 3-1. The players thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are very keen to commence the season. We look forward to catching some of the Midget games as this level is sure to please. The goal scorers for the Emperors were Simon Dunand, Mitchell Horst, James O'Brien Brown, and Patrick Teylan. The team placed 4th overall, and 3rd in Group A. Congratulations Midgets.
Senior C
The Senior C team has a very full team with a great bunch of guys enthusiastic about their hockey. This teams focus for the season is to enjoy their hockey and build up their skills during the coming season on a team and personal level. We wish our senior team all the best for this season.
Team Uniforms
Emperors uniforms have now been delivered and are being handed out at Tuesday night practice. There are still some which are still awaiting delivery and we hope to have the bulk available for distribution on April 10 practice session. And yes, the look very smart. Please see Debbie and Dianne on practice night to hopefully pick up your jersey.
Heaton Wrap Up
The Heaton Cup held at Canterbury is an annual event which is run on Good Friday. This year, the Emperors were represented in both Pee Wee and Midget grades and we are pleased to advise that it was a very successful event for our club. The Pee Wee team is boasting some very crafty talent with some very nice goals and beautiful set ups and we are very confident that this team will be very competitive this season. Congratulations Pee Wees on making it to the Finals of the Heaton Cup. The Midget wrap up for the tournament started with a 3-1 win in there first match and finishing 4th overall for the tournament. This shows the clubs competitive outlook in our first season. We are confident that all grades representing the Emperors this year will be competitive and boast some excellent hockey skills.
Ice Time Confirmation
We wish to advise all members that we are in the process of amending the training schedule and we will be advising the changes within the next two weeks. These changes are to cater for the large amount of Midget and Senior players which have registered with the club, but also to help the Atoms and Pee Wee players perhaps finish training a little earlier to help get them in bed as early as possible ready for school the next day. We will advise the changes as soon as they come to hand.
Hail Emperors.
